The Derby is closed

Uncategorized | Sad, sad news for LA clubs: The Derby is closed.

The Derby was a fantastic club in Los Feliz featuring bands and swing dancing. If you haven’t been to The Derby, you may be familiar with it from the movie, Swingers. It is the club where characters Mikey and Lorraine meet.

The Derby’s owner decided to sell the lease. We are hoping a new owner will take over the club, but if not, this wonderful club may become condos. To my knowledge, it is classified as a historic location, but I don’t know if there is a way to preserve it.

I had some great times at The Derby and it always had a really great vibe. Le sigh.
